Francesca began developing a photo series titled Unbounded – being gender diverse, to advocate for the right of every individual to express their identity without discrimination. This ongoing work presents a collection of portraits and personal statements that allow individuals to be seen and heard in their representation of gender diversity. Deliberately incorporating text alongside images, Francesca fosters dialogue between visual and written communication, encouraging engagement from viewers.
Through the project, she gained more profound insights into the widespread prejudices that persist within our society. As a cisgender individual, recognising her privilege in this context further underscores her sense of responsibility to contribute to positive change. Francesca hopes that this body of work can contribute to dismantling the prejudices that perpetuate suffering and inequality, inspiring collective support for LGBTQIA+ rights.
The project title is a tribute to Kai, who identified as unbounded.
