“In 2020, I was contacted by the cultural commission of my village, Arogno, to carry out a project related to the ‘memory archive,’ hearing the testimonies of the village elders. Photographing locals 80 years and older over two years and displaying the results in the town’s streets.
I decided to avoid the digital camera, leaning on the authentic atmosphere of film to enhance the concept of memory.
Undertaken during the spectre of the pandemic, there was a lot of responsibility around entering their homes. Although, once inside, the elderly were happy to share their life stories, creating a fulfilling experience for all involved.
Flavia Leuenberger Ceppi is a Swiss photographer and graphic designer.
After a few in photography, she founded a freelance agency offering graphic design and photographic services, flanking her commercial activity with personal works.
Her work has been exhibited at the Swiss consulate in San Francisco and won the portrait category of Swiss Press Photo.
