In 2009, I settled in the Northern Beaches and I loved the sound and the smell of the ocean, the breaking waves and the Australian beach culture. I soon discovered that Australia is the most swimming-crazy country in the world, and I became crazy about it too!
When I was young I was a lifeguard in a small town in Italy. My passion for swimming and photography was the catalyst for this project. I have always been amazed by the variety of the rock pools on the Northern Beaches. Nearly every beach has one ocean pool, they come in all sizes and shapes and each has its very own best shooting time.
I wanted to capture these spectacular “Piscine” and have been photographing them since 2012. The biggest challenge is being in the right place to shoot when the light, tide, swell and weather are just right.
