Shinya
portrait
His white Triumph was parked along the water when I passed him on my dog walk. I slowed down and hesitated. I wanted to tell him how much I liked his car and ask him where he was going. When I walked back, he was still there so I didn’t overthink and knocked on his window. He told me he’s Japanese and drove from London to meet his family in Amsterdam and ended up in this little village. He told me he doesn’t like motorways, his dad was his hero and how he watched him crying for the second time in his life when his grandmother died. The protrait is my memory of meeting Shinya and how wonderful it is to connect with strangers.
