The Ritual

Arthur’s ritual day in day out…the same rituals, the same loneliness. As I contemplate my own old age I realize many people are cut off from society, especially those over the age of 75.

This social isolation can negatively affect both physical and mental health and contribute to cognitive decline and risk of dementia. Today’s families tend to be more fragmented with many members moving interstate or overseas, diminishing the likelihood of family support.
