Only reachable by foot, for only three months of the year, the Phuktal Monastery is nestled high in a cave, deep in the Zanskar Valley in Northern India. ‘Without Words’ is an account of isolation, quietness and devotion as photographer Emett Toms learned on his stay in the remote Buddhist monastery.

This exhibition is a glimpse into the dusty corridors of the monastery, where monks lead lives of dedication and young lamas study from dusk until nightfall.
