Transgeneration

Transgeneration is a body of work composed of 18 self-portraits (to grow as the project continues) inspired by images from the 19th century. Through performance, makeup and characterisation, Fuchs is able to embody his ancestors.
Christian Fuchs is a Peruvian-Chilean artist whose work revolves around rethinking family and personal memory. Through performance, costumes, characterisation, and, at times, prosthetics, Fuchs uses his body as a vehicle to transport us to the past.
Using the ‘whatever it takes’ mantra, he strives to resemble his chosen characters as closely as possible.
