‘Refracted Light’, presents new works by Jan Cleveringa, Miguel Olmo and Rosalind Stanley all of whom use photography within their practice as a tool for developing works. In ‘Refracted Light’, the photographic media is not simply the vehicle upon which ideas are moulded and then realised through painting or sculpture, but the end product on its own right. To refract is to alter by viewing through a medium, and in ‘Refracted Light’ the artists will employ a range means to capture images mechanically. Using a range of image-capturing devices like cameras, mobile phones, and computer-generated algorithms the works in the exhibition will look at the world around us from the artists’ eye, presenting it back to the audience as a conglomeration of abstracted forms and ideas.
