A Migration Story is a body of work combining salt-paper print portraits and landscape images taken on medium format film, expressing elements of the photographer’s family’s migration to Australia.
Matino has been practising as a Fine Art Photographer since 2002. She has previously exhibited her work in solo shows, including an Associated Exhibition with Head On Photo Festival 2017 ‘Burlesque Girls’, as well as group exhibitions, including being a finalist for the Olive Cotton National Portrait Prize. Her work also forms part of private collections in Sydney, London, Chicago and Singapore.
Matino’s work is predominantly executed on her medium format camera, which allows a non-intrusive, considered way of working. The results are evocative, engaging images and compassionate, personal portraits.
