I like to explore the human condition and our relationship to the world around us. The world is multidimensional and exists across both the physical and spiritual space – my images explore our relationship with both. The fragile human essence is at play within the many layers of existence, something we don’t understand but are committed to moving through – towards the unseen challenges that lay ahead.
Maya in Indian Sanskrit means illusion. Maybe the world we see and live in does not exist in the first place; perhaps it’s all a dream. The world in the past does not exist in this moment, and the world today will not exist in the future. The world is nothing but a fleeting experience.
Using intentional camera movement (ICM) and flash, I can freeze the subjects in layers of activity. The subject, still and unchanging, becomes the permanent soul, with the blurred outside layers representing the ever-changing illusion of the impermanent world.
