Inexpensive devices and social media platforms enable young people to spontaneously capture and publish images and apply the skills of a classically trained photo-artist without worrying about cost.
The inaugural Head On Student Prize was launched in 2015 to celebrate and nurture the huge talent-pool of the next generation photo-artists.
The works are anonymous through the judging and as a result, the show brings together both newly unearthed and established Australian and International talent.
Judges this year were Sydney based photographer and educator, Louise Whelan; award-winning creative media practitioner and educator, Doug Spowart; New York based photographer, curator and educator, Sue Dooley; and Head On Photo Festival Director Moshe Rosenzveig.
