Rapidly changing mobile phone technology enables everyone with a smart phone to spontaneously capture moments or to apply the skills of a classically trained photo-artist. This genre is a newcomer to the world of photography but can already hold its own against more traditional and longer standing photographic techniques.
The Head On Mobile Prize was launched in 2014 to reflect the changing nature of photography and celebrate the huge diversity of images produced.
The works remain anonymous through the judging process and as a result, the show brings together both newly unearthed and established Australian and International talent.
Judges this year were Natan Dvir, Photographer & Educator @ International Center of Photography; Alexander Strecker, Editor LensCulture; Isobel Parker Philip, Curator of Photography at Art Gallery of NSW and Moshe Rosenzveig, Head On Photo Festival Director.
