Photo artists and venues are invited to apply to be part of the largest photo festival in Australia.
Submissions are open to all Australian and International artists and for all genres of photo-art.
The 2014 festival will feature exhibitions, events & education from 12 May – 8 June 2014.

SELECTION PROCESS
The submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee of 4-8 people nominated by Head On Photo Festival. If successful the submission will be recommended by the selection committee to be exhibited as either an Associated, Featured, or Head On Curated exhibition during Head On Photo Festival 2014. Acceptance into the Head On Photo Festival and whether the exhibition will be an Associated, Featured or Head On Curated Exhibition will be at the absolute discretion of Head On and once the decision has been made, it remains final. No correspondence will be entered into.
All Applicants will be notified by either phone or email of the outcome of the selection process by mid January 2014 or in the event of any unforseen delay as soon as practicable after mid January 2014 (Please ensure you check your junk mail.)
If an Applicant is accepted, they will be notified and advised of the due date by which each Applicant will need to pay his or her Registration Fee to participate in the Head On Photo Festival. It is a condition of acceptance into the Head On Photo Festival that each Applicant agrees to be bound by the terms and conditions application to Associated Exhibitions, Featured Exhibitions or Head On Curated Exhibitions (as the case may be).
THERE IS NO FEE TO APPLY
A registration fee is only applicable upon confirmation of having an exhibition with Head On Photo Festival 2014.
If an Applicant’s submission is accepted, he or she will be notified whether the exhibition will be an Associated, a Featured or a Head On Curated show.
Registration fees are payable by the Applicant whose submission has been submitted or by the venue as follows:
Associated Shows: | $150.00 per exhibition (Members $140.00) |
Featured Shows: | $295.00 per exhibition (Members $285.00) |
Head On Curated Show: | fees to be discussed at the time of notification |
The Applicant may request that the Registration Fee be paid by the venue in lieu of the Applicant and Head On Photo Festival will accept payment from the venue in lieu of the Applicant. However if for any reason the venue does not pay the Registration Fee, the Applicant will be required to pay the Registration Fee.

Head On Curated Exhibitors receive*:

- Professionally curated exhibition in a key festival venue. Head On will manage the selection of work, installation, printing, signage, opening night arrangements, gallery minding, floor talks, dismounting and sales
- Invitation to pre-Festival workshop
- Head On Project Manager to liaise between Head On, exhibitors and venue management
- Pre festival workshop with Head On PR agency and curators
- One ticket to a pre-festival event (exclusive to participants of the festival)

Featured Exhibitors receive*:
- Inclusion in Head On Photo Festival 2014, an internationally recognised festival which attracts extensive publicity through a variety of promotional channels
- Recommendation of service providers providing a discount to Head On exhibitors e.g. printers, framers
- Curatorial input from Head On
- Invitation to pre-Festival workshop
- Recommendation to key Head On venues
- Head On Project Manager to liaise between Head On, exhibitors and venue management
- Opening night photographed
- Pre festival workshop with Head On PR agency and curators
- One ticket to a pre-festival event (exclusive to participants of the festival)
Promotion of show via:
- Head On Photo Festival printed program
