The Vanishing Cave

landscape
The Arctic’s glaciers, including those of Greenland’s and Iceland’s vast ice cap, are retreating and the permafrost is shrinking. The land is thawing: the area covered by snow in summer is roughly a fifth less than in the 1960s. Ice Caves are only found during the wintertime when the glacial rivers retract and the water freezes. Their future is fragile and like us, are restive and short lived.
