Ruthy Goes to Church
Julia Gunther

portrait
This is the story of Ruth Jones, second-in-command of the Manenberg Church Brigade. Ruthy was born and still lives in Manenberg, an infamous township near Cape Town, South Africa, renowned for its drug and gang related crime. An active member of her community, Ruthy tries to keep Manenberg’s youth off the streets by giving them a uniform, an instrument and a purpose.
