Old Hildebrand

I met Hildebrand in eastern Berlin and one day he invited me in his house, where I took the picture. We conversed for a while, about past and present, about what we leave behind, about memories and family stories. For me this photograph is a meditation on the fragments and layers that shape life. I was probably the last person to take his picture as a couple days later, he passed away.
