The eagle and the hunter
Ella Mack

portrait
In the Bayan-Ölgii province of Mongolia, eagles are used to hunt during winter. A young man proudly displays his family’s eagle and a glimpse into his world; hat-tan, faux-pas plastic slippers and socks, the handcrafted basketball hoop, rubbish, a hint of the old Soviet truck and a chain dangling from the majestic bird of prey’s foot. We see so much contradiction; tradition vs. modernity, history vs. popular culture and freedom vs. restraint.
