The day the sky went black

Saturday 21st December 2019 will be burned into my memory forever. We knew the fires were coming but the wait was unbearable. Suddenly we were hit with an intense wall of heat like nothing I have felt before and the sky went red. We could hear the fire, and the noise from the helicopters and water-bombing aircraft added to the tension. Suddenly the sky went black and the beautiful landscape around us had disappeared.
