USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

Each Applicant/Exhibitor acknowledges and agrees that he or she will provide personal information (such as his or her name, address, telephone number and email address) to Head On Photo Festival. This personal information will be dealt with in accordance with Head On’s Privacy Policy.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR APPLICANTS

  1. The NSW Arts Minister’s Award for Visual Storytelling (Stories of NSW) is open to applicants of any age, residing in New South Wales
  2. An application fee of AUD$15 per submission is payable at the time of submitting the proposal
  3. There is no limit to the number of submissions from each applicant
  4. Submissions need to be  of a single subject and may include a multi-media component
  5. Applications must be one of the following genres: fine art photography, photojournalism, or documentary photography
  6. Applications should consist of a sample of the applicant’s work or a NSW based project already underway
  7. The successful applicant will be required to complete a photographic project on a subject based in NSW within a prescribed time-frame to be determined upon confirmation of the award recipient
  8. Head On in collaboration with the State Library of New South Wales (SLNSW) will produce an exhibition of the final project consisting of up to 20 prints as part of Head On Photo Festival 2019.
  9. The successful applicant will be notified by 6 July 2018and will receive the Terms & Conditions and exhibition guidelines and must accept them no later than 10 July 2018
  10. In the event the first choice application is not accepted, a replacement applicant will be notified by 11 July 2018
  11. The successful applicant will receive $10,000 in cash, mentoring by Head On Photo Festival Director and a fully curated and produced exhibition by Head On Photo Festival
  12. The work will become part of the SLNSW collection and licencing arrangements will be agreed upon directly between the SLNSW and the successful applicant
  13. The applicant warrants that all works submitted are original works created by the applicant and that the work does not infringe any third party’s copyright, other intellectual property rights, moral rights or rights to privacy, and are not defamatory or otherwise in breach of any law. The applicant agrees to indemnify Head On Foundation Ltd and Head On Photo Festival for any possible loss or legal action against it in relation to these infringements
  14. Copyright in any works submitted will remain the property of the applicant. Head On Photo Festival is entitled to use any image submitted for marketing and promotional purposes. Applicants agree that their images may be reproduced in any marketing and promotion of their work and of Head On Photo Festival and be included in exhibition catalogue(s), limited edition postcards and on the Head On Photo Festival website. Such use may be in any media whatsoever. Head On Photo Festival will use its best endeavours to credit the photographer whenever their image is used. Head On Photo Festival will endeavour not to crop images whenever these images are used
  15. The successful applicant will NOT exhibit the work between 1 July 2018 and the end of Head On Photo Festival 2019 unless agreed to in writing by Head On Photo Festival
  16. Head On Photo Festival will be entitled to exclude or remove from the 2019 Festival any applicant or exhibitor who has submitted false information or who does not comply with all terms and conditions set out by Head On Photo Festival

EXHIBITION APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants must:

  1. Agree to the terms and conditions (refer above)
  2. Pay the submission fee of AUD$15.00 per submission
  3. Submit work according to the specifications:
    1. For still photography:
      1. Upload 10 images – 1200 pixels longest side
      2. Do not watermark your images
    2. For multi-media/short film/short video, upload one frame and provide a link to the full video Saved in HD 720P format (1280×720) as MPEG-4, compression H264.
  4. Submit information about the project (up to 1500 characters)
  5. Submit biography (up to 750 characters)
  6. Provide name, email, telephone numbers and address
  7. ​Submissions can only be made via the Head On Photo Festival website (www.headon.org.au) during the submission period (5 May – 11 June 2018)

SELECTION PROCESS

Submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee nominated by Head On Photo Festival and/or by the Festival’s Creative Director, Moshe Rosenzveig. The committee will be comprised of industry experts such as photographers, picture editors and curators and will be led by the Festival’s Creative Director, Moshe Rosenzveig.
