We are thrilled to have internationally renowned photographer Michael Grecco join us for our next Head On Spotlight at 12.30pm Wednesday 4 August (Sydney time).
Known for his dramatic lighting and distinctive images, Michael is one of the most sought after photographers in the world. He has worked across celebrity portraits, advertising, editorial and fine-art.
Michael is no stranger to Head On – in the 2016 Head On Photo Festival, he exhibited his incredible celebrity portraits in Michael Grecco’s Icons. He also ran an amazing portraiture workshop.
For this session, he’ll share his processes for capturing his wonderful portraits, including his mastery of light. We can’t wait to hear all about this and his award-winning photography.

Born in New York City, Michael attended college in Boston, where he began his professional career shooting for the Associated Press and covering the music scene for a major radio station.Michael moved to Los Angeles in the late 1980s to be a celebrity photographer with People Magazine
His iconic images include portraits of famous celebrities, such as Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Will Ferrell and Penelope Cruz. His images have appeared in publications including Time Magazine, Vanity Fair, Esquire, and Rolling Stone, among many others.
His recent book ‘Punk, Post Punk, New Wave: Onstage, Backstage, In Your Face’ features previously unseen images of punk’s most iconic artists and bands. Michael was embedded in the revolutionary scene, documenting the clubs of Boston and New York and capturing the landmark era in popular culture with unprecedented access.
