Fearless photography with Tristan Still

Spotlight Test

I am a multidisciplinary artist living on stolen land. My work is driven by personal relations, most often in the photographic practice. My collaborators are often linked by a shared commonality of resistance to capitalist ideals and authority – those who fiercely challenge cultural normative behaviours, practices and expectations through their actions and identities.

I studied at the University of Western Sydney, completing a Bachelor of Visual Communication (Photography and Digital Imaging) before continuing on to teach photography and digital imaging at both the University of Western Sydney and the University of New South Wales College of Fine Arts.

My work has been published internationally, and I have been selected as a finalist in the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize (London), the National Photographic Portrait Prize, the Head On Portrait Prize, the Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize, the Olive Cotton Award, and the PCP IRIS Award.

I have received a number of awards including the for ‘People’ category of the Australian Photography Awards (2022), Australasia’s Top Emerging Photographer (2019), BJP Portraits of Humanity 4 (2022), two CCP Salon awards (2018/2019), and an honourable mention at the Kuala Lumpur International Photo Awards (2019).

The land on which I live and work is the land of the Gadigal and Wangal peoples of the Eora nation. It always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
