Xeno Eucalyptus #2

This image is from the series ‘Xeno Eucalyptus’. In the series elements from the Australian landscape are digitally montaged into idealised visions of the British landscape. This has the effect of subverting or inverting the ‘colonial gaze’. Appearing in the background of this image is an English formal garden with a maze. It is juxtaposed with the ‘anthropomorphic ‘ trunk and limbs of a eucalyptus tree. A large black border is used to enhance the spatial qualities between the two contrasting landscapes. All the elements in the image are photographic and have been taken by the photographer.
