At night in Iceland one would walk as far as possible from the lights of the small town and head in the frozen world towards the mountains where trolls dwelled, and elves were moving house to look in hope towards the sky.
Then with frozen fingers and tripod held steady against the wind from the sea look skyward and hope for that old magnetism to show. The wild magnetic forces of the sun connect with the poles of the earth, sometimes forcing elements of ice and skystuff into patterns, showing greens and reds in swirls across the sky. This is the reward to share.
