The D’Entrecasteaux Channel of Tasmania, a 120mm pinhole camera and photographic film were used to capture the early morning light shifting moment to moment, from a fixed position and thus the steady passing of time.
Specific attributes of the pinhole camera create a softening of detail, a lessening of surface glare and reflection in the image, together with an infinite depth of field and a modulation of colour. These characteristics are fundamental as they emphasise light over surface detail, imbuing images with an atmospheric quality conducive to contemplation.
