Coming from a film making background I often seek to imbue my urban landscapes with a sort of filmic sensibility. By that I mean a sense, for the viewer of either action about to occur, or action that has just occured. In this way I feel that I am maximizing tropes of mood and tone in my art.
This picture, taken in the industrial suburb of Brompton, Adelaide has this filmic notion and also breaks a rule or two. The frame is hogged by the foreground wall on the left. This is a deliberate move on my behalf and owes much to my admiration of the Italian painter De Chirico and in particular his neo-classical works.
