San Francisco Tree, is a picture of a neatly pruned tree on a street in San Francisco. There is a nice juxtaposition between the cool round shape of the tree and the warmth and lines of the architecture. The tree is mostly lit from behind, which gives it a slightly spiritual ambiance, and its trunk is wrinkled and split, which imparts a feeling of wisdom. The image spoke to me about the importance of nature to the beauty of our urban landscape.
I travelled to San Francisco and other cities in the US last year, gathering images for an exhibition of sculpture, photographs and drawings that I am showing at Tweed River Art Gallery in March and April 2013
