At an altitude of 3656m above sea level and covering 10,582 square kilometres lies Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flats. Each year as the salt flats dry, they crystallise into an hexagonal pattern that stretches to the horizon. When the rain comes again, the normally magnificently sunny landscape is transformed into an eerily monotonal place.
