Antarctica is an immense landscape, hovering behind a veil of mystery and intrigue. It is a place full of folklore and adventure. Most often travelled to by ship, the mystery of the place through sea journey is heightened. With no indigenous population to link us to it’s ancient past, can we ever truly know or understand this ice locked continent?
I worked on a ship for 2 months in Antarctica, surrounded by expensive camera technology extensively capturing the landscape and environment. In contrast I photographed the landscape through the ships porthole, using cardboard and basic camera obscura and pinhole techniques.
