Periodicity2

The series Periodicity was taken in and around Mittagong NSW. The unnatural forms and colours of trees lit by floodlights in streets and parks at night are the focus of this series. We light our environment to make us feel safe, as if the darkness which is natural is inherently threatening. This in turn affects plant growth and development, disrupting the plants natural rest cycle. And now, artificial lighting is so common, that when viewed from space, it appears as if whole continents are on fire as they glow against the dark.
