The Painter and his Wife

Inspired visually by Jeannie Baker’s book “Belonging” and to a certain thematic extent by the films of Peter Greenaway, this urban landscape of roofs scattered through a north eastern precinct of the Adelaide CBD was a revelation for me when seen from this height. The library of paint tins lining the rear wall and the adjoining lit windows triggered a story in my mind; a sneak glimpse into the private worlds before my eyes, playing out behind and around the stone and brick facades and corrugated rooftops.
