Kelvinator

Taken during a cool night in an expansive industrial precinct in Adelaide’s Athol Park, this image was intended to express the quintessential character of the area’s built form – the ‘sawtooth’ roof. Long, dark alleys of roofs dominate the landscape, hemmed in on all sides. Some of these structures are empty, whilst others are filled with old machinery or trucks. Much of the area is busy even at midnight, night shifts clanking away within the factories, the sound a regular throbbing machine-hum, punctuated by the screeching tires of cars racing down the main street.
