The Illumination series are site-specific plein-air photographs of installations in the Australian landscape. Each photograph is the result of a 24-hour photo shoot, involving specialized equipment, considered planning and unpredictable weather. A lit chandelier hovers above the landscape, interrupting panoramic scenes with its cultural and imperialist symbolism. Here the landscape is not solely of nature but is viewed through the lens of the colonizing culture, a constructed scene revealing the incongruity between the two.
