Shot from the hotel room overlooking the high-rises of Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. Day 365 forms part of a larger series (Since I Left U) that explores the notion of physical and emotional separation. Told from two separate points of view, ‘I’ and ‘U’, the images focus on the mundane aspects of each of their respective worlds. The gaze of ‘U’, who has been left behind, picks out the domestic imperfections that went ignored when ‘I’ was present but are a stark reminder of how quickly things disintegrate when left to their own devices. While ‘I’ presents images of hotel rooms, hinting at a life of adventure free from domestic chores. Connecting these two points of view is an underlying sense of tension; both ‘I’ and ‘U’ seemly trapped in their own environments.
