Contemplation – The Search for Eternity

iSimangaliso, meaning ‘miracle and wonder’ is an apt name for a very special place. This wetland park is South Africa’s first UNESCO World Heritage site and includes 8 interlinking eco-systems, over 500 bird species, Africa’s largest estuarine systems, 700 year old fishing traditions and dunes that are amongst the highest in the world.

I’ve woken before sunrise to photograph life at Estuary Beach. I watch the fisherman setting up in this gloriously beautiful setting. The time honoured tradition of fishing is only partly about the fish. It is also about man’s desire to forget about the mundane rituals of life and to immerse himself in a timeless place.

I believe it is only in escaping the routines of life that you can truly connect with the Universe…and find Eternity.
