CONCEPT
In this exhibition, I plan on taking the public with me below the waves and deep into the western Pacific Ocean with a collection of images highlighting the wreck diving I’ve done over the last few years.
Images include Japanese World War 2 warships and a plane sunk in the Operation Hailstone battle in Chuuk, Micronesia, a scuttled Royal Australian Navy wreck in Queensland, Australia, and a wreck in remote St. George’s Channel, Papua New Guinea.
After a childhood filled with swimming and lifesaving, Kerrie first started diving while living in Thailand in the mid-1990s, taking the sport up again years later on a trip with scientists tagging dwarf minke whales off the outer Great Barrier Reef – a journey filmed in a David Attenborough documentary. Now a Global Underwater Explorers (GUE) technical diver and a multi-award winning underwater photographer, Kerrie continues to explore the world, photographing her underwater adventures in cold to temperate to tropical waters. In the last few years, wrecks and technical diving has been the main focus of her photography.
