The mobile phone was once a device used to send and receive calls and messages. These days, however, with the advent of a plethora of apps, social network functionality, broadband connection and digital image technologies, the mobile phone has become an integral device in most people’s lives. Phone-tics explores the innovative and experimental use of mobile phones as the medium for art making in contemporary artistic practice. This is a group show of artists who use mobile phone technologies as a medium in art-making in experimental and innovative ways. Phone-tics will consist of a ground floor gallery exhibition of photo-media works (photography and video based) and audio-visual exhibitions in ATVPs Video Window and Sound Garden exhibition spaces (video and sound based works).
