By nature, photography is a representational medium; it describes and symbolises what we understand to be reality. Undefined Territories ask’s whether these spaces of representation created by photography can become a primary experience. Can they (photographs) become new objects, which we might come to understand as ‘the real thing’. By navigating through states of abstraction, Lucie challenges our reliance on histories to understand what we see; allowing one to enter the wilderness – that liminal space of in-between, and consider contemporary image viewing within the context of ‘the real’.
