Les Sharp. Places located within the urban landscape where traditional and historic events are held.
Many amazing places are hiding within plain sight, that show the drama and majesty of the land. Places located within the urban landscape where traditional and historic events are held. Places where one can meet people with diverse customs and beliefs. There are also untamed areas where wild animals roam free.
It is the diversity that makes places so exciting, and the feeling of exhilaration that I have endeavoured to capture in these photographs.
I am a retired physicist who has photographed most of my life, interweaving photography with my scientific career that has extended over 40 years. My fascination with photography started in the 1960s with the publication of the iconic image of a baboon in full flight turning to confront the chasing leopard. Today, the image still acts as a carrot on a stick, taunting me to achieve its standard with the taking of the next photograph. Combine this with the excitement of travel and the world becomes an amazing place, providing opportunity across the photographic genres of landscapes, cityscapes, events, portraits and wildlife. I am a member of the AIPP, and in 2019 gained numerous awards at various international photographic competitions.
