The Stranger Connection

In a world dominated by curated social feeds, image filters and now the influx of AI generated portraits, I am utilising modern digital camera technology to capture traditional simple street portraits.
There is so much beauty in the diversity and individuality of humans, we need to look past the social pressures to be perfect and just be ourselves. This project is focused on showcasing the beauty in all of us when we strip away the layers and express our natural selves.
All images are taken using available/natural light to capture the person as they are. Only minor overall edits are made for contrast, colour and exposure as you would in a traditional photo printing process.
Dex studied photography in 1997 with a focus on music and portrait photography. After being published in the Sydney Morning Herald and Rolling Stone, the challenge of making a living using the lens took its toll. 25 years later, Dex bought a camera again to document their honeymoon. This reignited their passion for photography. The freedom and accessibility that digital brings opens up a whole new world of opportunity. Concentrating on street and portrait photography, they are now focused on the art and love of capturing the beauty, energy and diversity in people.
