The State of Things is an examination of happenstance – each moment the outcome of chance and a series of unknowable decisions. It is a portrait of us, working behind the scenes.
The State of Things is an impossible attempt to document the state of things. It began in 2017 and is ongoing.
Calum York, born in 1995 in New York City, is a Sydney-based designer and photographer. His day job is in architecture, and his photographic practice has long been influenced by our individual and collective engagement with the built environment.
