Newtown is an exhibition of Mark Dundas’ (1972-2008) photos he was working on for a projection show at FotoFreo 2008, just before his unexpected passing away.
Mark believed deeply in the power of photography’s ability to inform and shape the world. Mark supported his photography, his passion, by working long hours as a scaffolder. His black & white photo series shot in Newtown over many years was a project close to his heart. Newtown was his favourite area in Sydney.
Mark felt deeply that by photographing the diverse subcultures who call Newtown their home, he would be documenting a story of tolerance, acceptance and diversity.
