Brutal Beauty: Faces of Australian Roller Derby By following bouts around Australia for 14 months, Gunther Hang has uniquely captured the rawness and spectacle of the world’s fastest growing female sport—women’s flat track ‘Roller Derby’. With over 70 leagues here in Australia, Roller Derby is a rapid-paced, full contact team sport requiring speed, strategy and athleticism. Documenting the inventive costumes and ironic pseudonyms of the sport while hinting at the individual story, these stoic portraits celebrate this violent sport in all its diversity and colour.
