Suburban loneliness explores the subtle, cinematic beauty of suburban spaces at night as well as the potentially fraught experience of being alone with oneself. With COVID-19 came extended periods of contemplation, creativity, but also simultaneous anxieties that can come with solitude. My images are intended to evoke questions and interpretation and celebrate the soft vibrancy and moodiness of a small village. The location for the images is the upper Blue Mountains, Blackheath in particular, where I spent much of 2020 as I studied online. I strongly believe that creativity is within us at all times, we just need to give it the time and space to emerge.

Georgia Brogan is a 19-year-old photographer based in Sydney. Her vibrant and intimate work reflects her interest in the cinematic potential of the everyday world and the manner in which a camera can be used to create mysterious visual narratives. Her approach is highly influenced by her love for film; its construction of and appreciation for beauty.
