‘rather unexpected’ is a photographic celebration of the incongruous and the unexpected events that unfold before our eyes. The images aim to blend humour, quirkiness, absurdity and bewilderment to entice the viewer to delve into the unique story behind each composition. With a nod to irreverence the photos pay homage to the extraordinary and often random events which unfold around us.
All the photos were taken while I was the chief photographer for Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and the Pacific at the international news service Agence France-Presse (AFP) in Sydney. So far my insatiable curiosity has taken me to over 120 countries on six continents.
