‘Protest’ takes us inside the protests and rallies taking place on the streets of Melbourne at the turn of the millennium.
Maree Tonkin is a photographer living in Central Victoria. She completed BA Arts (Photojournalism) at LaTrobe University in 2002. Maree has exhibited locally, interstate and internationally, with a strong foundation in photojournalism, documentary, and street photography. Her practice explores a range of topics spanning contemporary social and political narratives, human condition and family. Maree’s rarely exhibited early work, created between 1998–2002 documents social and political protest on the streets in Melbourne covering anti-war, globalism, capitalism, environmental and early reconciliation movements.
