An exhibition of fine black and white photographs of the Australian landscape by a master of the art and technique. Gordon Undy is widely known as a photographer, teacher and mentor to those who love the medium of classical film photography. He has published four books of photographs of the Australian landscape. During this exhibition Undy will launch his new boxed folio of images from the past six years.
“Australia may be a land of expansive vistas but it is also a land of great intimacy – and lives lived in the presence of such intimacy are privileged indeed. To sit on a rock at the beach, contemplating the water patterns; to savour the flow of a quiet river; to note the projections of sunlight through trees as the sun moves during the last two and a half minutes of daylight and to imagine trees dancing in concert – these are the pleasures of place in the Australian landscape.
Much of my work over the last twenty five years has been to observe and record such moments on film with the large format view camera. This exhibition brings together for the first time some of my rewards from the past six years. All are in the eastern states from Cape York to southern Victoria, made during travels with like souls in trips designed to enable such intimate experiences of this country.”
