Philip Myers reflected on the nature of photography as a personal act and response to our encounters. He realised that some of his photographs were more personal than others and this distinction was founded on a connected reality. A premeditated photograph held him away from his immediate reality, whereas a spontaneous photograph drew him closer. A Personal Journey is a diary of Myer’s life experiences and documents the anchors in his reality. All photographs were taken on an iPhone and were an immediate un-calculated response to what was around him. They are as organic and chaotic as his daily experiences and a personal journey that he can revisit if his memory ever fails him.
