Set in Stone draws on the National Art School’s collection and archive to tell the story of the Cell Block Theatre, a dynamic and experimental arts space set within the School that has made a significant contribution to the cultural life of Sydney. Over five decades, artists, musicians and performers as diverse as Peter Sculthorpe, Nick Cave, John Bell and Joan Jonas have shared this fascinating space along with Shakespearean play, groundbreaking dance performances and some of Sydney’s earliest Happenings.
