A Lush Life culminated from a collection of photographs shot during 2011-13 as a personal project to shoot people candidly in and around Sydney. Most of these were during commutes on Sydney Transport (nothing like a captive audience) and some city streets.
Heavily inspired from a trip to the US and a lucky visit to a Winogrand exhibition, it became a fun obsession for a while. The experience brought a commonly witnessed dimension of fellow passengers – tired, trapped and frustrated or finding escapism and solace.
Peter Davis is a photography enthusiast living on the Central Coast of New South Wales. He finds inspiration from any mix of street, people, surf, beach and skate imagery. Mobile photography is also a long running passion for Peter, and he was featured in Apple’s 2015 global Shot On iPhone6 campaign. This is his first time exhibiting and he is proud to be part of the Head On festival.
