More details

Bernadette Smith draws on photographs taken during her Carss Park Artist Residency to explore relationships between migration, colonialism and the environment. Reflecting on her identity as the child of a migrant and a fourth-generation settler, she presents a visual and philosophical meditation on changes wrought by settlers to the land and its First Nations people.

Artist talk on 2:30pm June 2nd.

Bernadette Smith is a photo-media artist based in Sydney. She has exhibited internationally with solo shows in Berlin, San Francisco and Singapore and has been a finalist in several major art prizes. Informed by her background in activism, her photography blends fine art and documentary approaches to raise awareness of environmental and social justice.
